Will Hurricane Gustav affect New Orleans sports teams at all?

Though Hurricane Gustav doesn’t appear to have caused as much damage as Hurricane Katrina, won’t this still affect sports teams. Regardless of if it directly hit the city of New Orleans it still did a lot of damage in areas outside the city. The Saints and Hornets fan base is all of Louisiana and probably some of Mississippi. Since these people probably won’t plan on shelling out money for tickets and team gear until they get their lives back in order and the city of New Orleans still struggling to get back to the way it was before Hurricane Katrina one must wonder whether this could be a disaster for the Saints and Hornets. Your thoughts?

Well the Superdome and Arena sustained no damage during Hurricane Gustav. The city suffered very little flooding this time. The Saints game scheduled for this weekend at the Superdome is still on, so I don’t think it will have an effect at all on Sports teams.

Good Morning NOLA! Have a terrific Thursday. Through 3pmwe will see widespread showers and thunderstorms developing by early afternoon. Partly cloudy with temperatures steady in the upper 80s. Winds WSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 80%.  Sunshine and a few clouds. A stray afternoon thunderstorm is possible. High 94F. Winds SW at 5 to 10 mph. Partly cloudy skies. Low 78F. Winds SSW at 10 to 15 mph.  Check out the new exhibit at the THNOC.  The Creole Tomato Festival is next weekend.  This city never sleeps so don’t miss a thing . I hope your  plans include music.  It is good for the soul. The weather should cooperate so get out and enjoy.  The week ahead looks pretty good. Don’t worry about those scattered showers over the week ahead but all in all looks great. The book siginings at the 1850’s House Store went great. They still have books in the store and I am back in the Quarter. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Good morning NOLA!  Another beautiful day is in store for the Big Easy today.  The high should reach eighty to eighty-one  with plenty of sun and just a little breeze to get us by.  The low tonight will only drop to sixty-four for a beautiful evening.  This weekend has been just perfect for any outdoor activities you might have.  I spent the day in Palmer Park Saturday for the Save the CDP Fundraiser. It was a gorgeous day with plenty of great people.  If you didn’t get to come and get a signed copy of my books you are in luck. I have more signings scheduled. I was back on Jackson Square yesterday at the 1850’s House Store signing copies of “If I Were A French Quarter Rat” or “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!   Another amazing day in the Crescent City. I’m thinking there will be plenty mor ewhere that came from. Don’t worry about the rain we won’t see any significant chance of that for about a week.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  days.  Happy Sunday! It will be a lttle windy but warm today. The high will be just over the eighty degree mark. The forecast is showing more rain for later in the week too. It is only suppose to be isolated thunder storms but be prepared. Tomorrow shows strong storms and high winds.  I will have the umbrella at the ready but there is plenty of cover in the Quarter.  What’s a little rain after all? The sun should make its appearance again just in time for the weekend. There will be lots going on as usual.  I am taking a break so I will not be at the 1850’s House Store this weekend but will be back on the Square the following weekend. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Marion County, Florida Real Estate on the Rise

One of the fastest growing counties in the nation, Marion County Florida is quickly becoming a viable investment option for those looking for an alternative to costly, crowded major Florida cities. With less than 70,000 residents, the county has nearly quadrupled to a population of 250,000. For the past few years the county has consistently ranked as one of the three fastest growing areas in the nation while still maintaining a diverse community where country life still dominates some areas. Comprised of five different vastly different cities, Marion County boasts a well-preserved history coupled with the vitality of a major metropolis.

Even with its continuous growth, Marion County remains affordable. Modern single-family new homes are priced from $120,000 up, while brand new apartment complexes offer monthly rates starting at just $570/ month. Local developers have caught onto the recent trend of building gated communities, but, like other Marion County real estate, home prices in these luxury communities remain affordable. In fact, in 2000 the National Association of Realtors named Marion County’s Ocala as having the third most affordable housing in the nation.

Ocala, the seat of county government, is by far the largest city within the county and was recently named one of the top 50 small metropolitan areas in the country by Inc. Magazine. Ocala also boasts the second highest real estate appreciation rate in the nation at 25.9%, just behind the recovering Baton Rouge, Louisiana. But the region is not shaping up to be an industrial, urban smog kingdom; the air quality (91.2%) is 20 percentage points higher than the average of CNN’s top ten places to live. And the city is surrounded by historic districts, a national forest, and Florida’s second largest artesian spring.

Among the many nature-based attractions is Marion County’s equestrian industry. In 1999 the U.S. Department of Agriculture named Marion County the “Horse Capital of the World” due to its number of horses in residence exceeding everywhere else in the country and praised its near 50 different breeds. Equestrian enthusiasts can seek employment in the county’s massive thoroughbred industry that employs 29,000 Marion County residents. However, if you keep you with the times and modern culture interests you, the technology industry is also thriving. And the construction industry is one of the quickest in the state, issuing over 200 building permits each month. The new industries mark significant progress from an economy based solely on agriculture just thirty years ago.

Good Morning NOLA! It’s Friday people. What a beautiful day to kick off Jazz Fest 2011 Our  high will be in the eighties today.  Our rain chance is a mere ten percent today. It never hurts to keep the umbrella handy just in case, but I don’t think you will need it.  There is sun in the forecast which is always nice.  There is still lots going on in the city as usual.  Jazz Fest is finally here and the line-up looks awesome as usual. I hope you are making your weekend plans and it includes music.  The weather should cooperate so get out and enjoy.  We have a great week of weather ahead. Thursday looks a little iffy with a forty percent chance of rain but all in all looks great. I will  be at the 1850’s House Store sigining books in a couple of weeks. I will let you know exact dates as I get them. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  Wow, did we get hammered this morning.   Keep an eye out for the thunderstorms through out the  morning.  Also if you are on the road watch for flooded roadways and go around.  Some neighborhoods are flooded and are trying to keep traffic from passing through and creating a wake that is pushing more water into their yards and homes. There have also been reports of downed trees and power outages. If at all possible you really ought to hang out at home for a while this will pass through by lunch or so leaving with some nice sunny days for a while.  According to the forecast there will be no more rain until the middle of next week. The high today is in the upper seventies with the low for tonight only fifty.  I sure am glad that I am not working out there today.  It seems like a great opportunity to write severals pieces I have been putting off for a while.  Y’all be safe and responsible out there and try to stay dry.  I’ll see you in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  Happy Hump day, today is Wednesday for those of you who have lost track.  Wasn’t it a beautiful day yesterday.  That breeze blowing through the Quarter was perfect. Spring has always been my favorite time to be in the Quarter. It will be sunny this morning but will warm up as the day goes on.The high will be eighty-two degrees today.  But look for cooler temps tonight with a low in the sixties. It will be a little breezy which is always welcome when the humidity is seventy percent.  The forecast is showing just a few scattered storms this week probably on Friday.  It never hurts to keep the umbrella handy. There is still lots going on in the city as usual.   I will  be at the 1850’s House Store sigining books in a couple of weeks. I will let you know exact dates as I get them.
