Good Morning NOLA! How are you today?  I am doing pretty well.  I am really enjoying our weather. Since the cool front came through on Monday our overnight lows have been nice and in the fifties again.  This gives us a little nip in the air to start the day and warming up into the seventies ofr our daily high.  It is partly cloudy today so it shouldn’t be a really warm seventy four degrees.  There are scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for tomorrow so we have to resort to carrying an umbrella for Thursday as well as Friday and Saturday of this week. Let’s hope it just passes us by. Saturday brings us a seventy percent chance of rain but clearing for Sunday. This trend should take us through Mardi Gras which overall has been pretty awesome weatherwise. What a great time to be in the Big Easy.   Have a great day and enjoy whatever you decide to do today.  See you in NOLA!

Good morning NOLA!  Another beautiful day is in store for the Big Easy today.  The high should reach the upper seventies with plenty of sun and just a little breeze to get us by.  The low tonight will dip just slightly into the fifties for a beautiful evening.  This weekend has been just perfect for any outdoor activities you might have.  I spent the day in Palmer Park yesterday for the Save the CDP Fundraiser. It was a gorgeous day with plenty of great people.  If you didn’t get to come and get a signed copy of my books you are in luck.  I will be back on Jackson Square today at the 1850’s House Store.  If you are out and about stop by and get your signed copy of “If I Were A French Quarter Rat” or “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!   Don’t worry about the rain we won’t see any significant chance of that for about a week.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Should all sports teams move out of Louisiana?

With all the hurricanes costing them millions why would they stay in that mess?

How much money can a sports team lose before they say that’s it?

Every year they lose millions!!

Player Profile: Clonie Gowan

Her real name is Cycalona Gowen because she was born during a tropical storm. Clonie grew up in Kiowa, Oklahoma and played sports in high school. She ranked seventh in the high jump in track and field and was also a championship-level basketball player. She had looks as well as skill in sports and the pretty young blonde won the Miss Teen McAlester crown in Oklahoma at age fifteen.

Clonie is a divorced mother of two and lives in Dallas, Texas. Her older child, a daughter, lives with her first husband and she is raising her second child, a son, who is a product of her second marriage.

She learned poker while in her teens and became more skillful after her first divorce when she would drive to Shreveport, Louisiana to play in the casinos. Clonie began to win several hundred dollars each weekend which soon became a steady income and decided she could earn more money as a gambler then working at her travel agency business to play poker full time and finds this world much more to her liking.

She became known to the public after finishing tenth in the 2002 Costa Rica Classic. The following year, she beat five of the world’s best women players – including Annie Duke and Jennifer Harman – at WPTs Ladies Night which was an event that was made for television.

Some of Clonie’s poker-related activities:

• Appeared on Good Morning America

• Mentioned in the New York Times, Dallas Observer, Texas Monthly, Esquire Magazine

• Guest appearances on Ultimate Poker Challenge in Las Vegas and European World Poker Championship in Dublin, Ireland

• Writes a regular Question and Answer column for WSOP Bluff Magazine

• Member of the Board of Directors of the United States Poker Association

Clonie Gowan is a member of the team of poker experts on FullTilt.com, Howard Lederer’s website, which include the following notables:

• Chris Ferguson

• Jennifer Harman

• Erick Lindgren

• Mike Matusow

• Phil Ivey

• John Juanda

• Phil Gordon

• Erik Seidel

• Andy Bloch

She is now a partner in a poker school teaching the basics of tournament play to women and men. She states the aim of the school is to instruct her students “How to be successful in a competitive game where your own money is at stake.” Additionally, she is writing a book “Good Girls Do Make the Final table”, which is scheduled to be printed by Harcourt Brace and is due out some time in 2006.

Unlike most other well-known poker players who are open about their winnings, Clonie, “The New Face of Poker”, is vague about her finances.

She also is involved in charities where she is a frequent host and does a great deal of volunteer work. At the Whisper Walk in Dallas to help victims of ovarian cancer, Clonie – whose mother is a survivor of this disease – was a very much appreciated guest speaker.

Clonie Gowan is considered a midlevel poker professional and has high public visibility. However, her name did not appear in Card Player magazine’s rankings and she has thus far not finished at the final table of any important tournament.

Good Morning NOLA!   It’s Thursday and the weekend is getting closer.  I am certainly looking forward to it.  The morning will be full of sunshine.  By this afternoon we will reach a high of eighty.  No rain in the forecast today but our chances increase over the weekend.  By Monday of next week we will see a forty percent chance.  The forecast is showing a thirty percent chance of showers for Saturday and Sunday. It is only suppose to be isolated thunder storms but be prepared. I will have the umbrella at the ready but there is plenty of cover in the Quarter. What’s a little rain after all. So don’t let that keep you from coming out to the French Quarter to see me at the 1850’s House Store.  I will be signing my latest book “If I Were A French Quarter Rat” and also  “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!”  Stop by and say “Hi!”. Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  Can you believe our high today is seventy?  Lots of sun in the forecast for the next week and warmer daytime temperatures.  It should be a beautiful week with no rain in the forecast until a week from now.  If this kind of weather holds through Mardi Gras, look out Crescent City.  I’m going to have to dig up some t-shirts and clothes more suited to this spring like weather.  My heavy sweaters and boot won’t work right now.  Even in jeans and light weight button up shirt yesterday I was a little warm.  Oh well, you know how it goes do don’t pack away the winter stuff just yet.  I said yesterday I was going back to the flip flops so I guess a pedi  is on the agenda for today.  I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day and that today is no different.  Letting people know how much you love them doesn’t have to be relagated to one day a year.  As Lenny would say “Let Love rule!”  Have a great day and I’ll see you in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  I hope you remembered to set your clocks back last night.  If not, now is a great time to do it.  It’s a little cloudy this morning but the sun will be making an appearance this afternoon.  The highs for the Crescent City is seventy-six today and no rain today.  The low tonight in the fifties once again. Tomorrow we may see a few isolated showers as we have a thirty percent chance of rain in the forecast.  Other that the rest of the weel looks clear right on up until next Sunday.  It will be a great week to take care of all the outdoor chores and errands that you have on your “to do” list.  Next Saurday I will be out at Palmer Park signing books and will have matted prints for the CDP fundraiser. In spite of the thirty percent chance of showers next Sunday, I will be signing books again at the 1850’s House Store on Jackson Square.  Come out and get your signed copy of  “If I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  I will also have copies of  “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky! ” on hand.  Mark your calendars and plan.

See y’all in NOLA.

Good Morning NOLA! Happy Valentine’s Day! Along with all the love and hearts floating on the air today is some warmer temps and sunshine.  Yesterday was absolutely gorgeous and I have a feeling today is just more of the same. Our high today is back in the sixities for the second day in a row.  The forecast says partly cloudy but it looks pretty clear to me.  There is only a ten percent chance for rain so I don’t think we will be seeing any.  The low for tonight is in the upper forties. This seems to be the trend for the next several days and then the daytime highs will be in the seventies.  You can put up the boots and jackets and pull out the t-shirts and flip-flops for a bit.  I don’t think spring is here yet but enjoy this reprieve will we can.  I guess a pedicure is in order.  What a great Valentine’s treat!  See you in NOLA!
