Good Morning NOLA!  Can you believe our high today is seventy?  Lots of sun in the forecast for the next week and warmer daytime temperatures.  It should be a beautiful week with no rain in the forecast until a week from now.  If this kind of weather holds through Mardi Gras, look out Crescent City.  I’m going to have to dig up some t-shirts and clothes more suited to this spring like weather.  My heavy sweaters and boot won’t work right now.  Even in jeans and light weight button up shirt yesterday I was a little warm.  Oh well, you know how it goes do don’t pack away the winter stuff just yet.  I said yesterday I was going back to the flip flops so I guess a pedi  is on the agenda for today.  I hope everyone had a great Valentine’s Day and that today is no different.  Letting people know how much you love them doesn’t have to be relagated to one day a year.  As Lenny would say “Let Love rule!”  Have a great day and I’ll see you in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  TGIF!  We are starting off our day with some clouds but the sunwill be out a little later today.  Spring like highs are still around with our’s for today being seventy five.  The low tonight will drop into the fifties again so we are looking around fifty -four degrees.  Another day for me on the set of Looper in the CBD. It was actually quite nice walking over to set  from the French Quarter in the morning. It was warm yesterday but the breeze saved the day.  Looks like we will have more of the same today with the winds five to ten miles per hour according to the forecast. This is suppose to take place in the fall or winter so I was slightly overdressed for the forecast.  Great weather up ahead for the weekend.  Parade going shuld not be a problem.  There is a possiblity of some showers on Monday but the weekend looks clear.  Have a fabulous Friday!

I’ll see you in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  TGIF y’all. Through 2pm: Sunny with temperatures rising towards the low 80s. Winds NW at 5 to 10 mph. Plentiful sunshine. High 84F.  Our chance of rain in the Crescent City area is nada or absolutely none.  Like I always say, it never hurts to keep the umbrella handy just in case.   There is still lots going on in the city as usual.  Jazz Fest is here and the line-up looks awesome as usual. Don’t miss out. I hope you are making your weekend plans and it includes music.  The weather should cooperate so get out and enjoy.  The week ahead looks pretty good. Don’t worry about those scattered showers over the week ahead but all in all looks great. I will  be at the 1850′s House Store sigining books in a couple of weeks. It will be a double header book signing both Saturday and Sunday, May 14th and 15th. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Good Morning NOLA!  Happy Weekend!  It is A chilly Saturday morning out there.  But guess what?  It is going to be a bright  bright, sunshiny day! It will be perfect weather for my road trip to Baton Rouge today to watch my little cheerleader perform.   Most of us will still still need coats and jackets but you can leave your umbrella in the house or car.  No sign of rain until Monday and Tuesday when the forecast calls for a few showers. The lows tonight will drop back into the forties but will not be as cold as last night, but then back in the thirties for a few nights.  Have a great weekend!  I’ll see you in NOLA!

Louisiana Culinary Trails – Delta Delights

Rich farmland, recreational waterways and scenic highways dominate Northeast Louisiana. This side of the Delta still lays claim to unspoiled and undeveloped backroads that take modern day explorers back in time. It’s all about Southern tradition in this neck of the Great Southern Pine Forest, where many of the go-to eateries have been in continuous operation for at least a half-century. Grab a map and head off to discover one of the nearby rural treasures within an hour’s drive of Monroe/West Monroe. Slow down, relax, and enjoy a perfectly seasoned Southern dish — from frog legs to fricassée — prepared from a distinctive recipe passed down for generations.

Louisiana: An Outdoor Experience

Whether you like to party or you love history, you will find an attraction you like in Louisiana. One destination you can’t pass up when you go to Louisiana is New Orleans, especially if you are traveling during Mardi Gras when you can experience the excitement of the parades, parties and live music. New Orleans has a variety of events that are worth exploring. In Lafayette you can visit different swamps and take a unique swamp tour or have a unique fishing experience. The capital at Baton Rouge offers a variety of museums and historical sights. For gaming options there is Shreveport and Bossier City in the northern part of Louisiana. No matter where you go in Louisiana you are bound to find a historic plantation and most of them have public tours available to travelers.

New Orleans is most known for their blend of history and culture that you can experience through a variety of events, restaurants and cultural events. There is plenty to do in New Orleans including visiting a live theater, shopping in a unique gallery or boutiques and visiting one of the many festivals. Thousands of visitors come to New Orleans each year for Mardi Gras which has large parades, street parties and costume balls. You can’t visit New Orleans without touring the French Quarter which is the best cultural center of the city. There are a number of live music clubs with everything from jazz to country available in this part of the city along with a variety of restaurants from Cajun, Creole, Southern and French cuisine. You can even opt to take a guided tour that will show you the area’s culture and historic sites.

The capital of Louisiana is Baton Rouge. This is a very culturally diverse city to visit that is very popular with tourists. A number of festivals can always be found along the riverfront entertainment district along with the cities port which is one of the largest in the United States. You can choose to tour the Louisiana State University and Southern University. The area around the city has several plantations that you can visit and tour with the two most popular being the Magnolia Mound Plantation and Mt. Hope Plantation.

Staying in Louisiana almost always means finding a bed and breakfast to stay at. The Louisiana Bed and Breakfast Association at http://www.louisianabandb.com is an excellent way to look at all your options and find the best one for your traveling needs. One new option is the L’Auberge du Lac which is a 750 room casino and gaming resort. A new Hilton was built at the former Capitol House Hotel in Baton Rouge in 2006 which now has a fitness center, pool and salons. Some of the rooms at this hotel come with beautiful views of the Mississippi River.

Good Morning NOLA!  It’s Sunday and we might actually have some rain today.  Through 10pm: Partly cloudy with temperatures slowly falling to near 83F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the evening. Low 77F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.  Very exciting stuff happening on this end. There is always something going on in the city as usual.  The Oyster Festival is this weekend and it is the last Feret Market until the fall.  Check out the new exhibit at the THNOC.  The Creole Tomato Festival is next weekend.  This city never sleeps so don’t miss a thing . I hope your  plans include music.  It is good for the soul. The weather should cooperate so get out and enjoy.  The week ahead looks pretty good. Don’t worry about those scattered showers over the week ahead but all in all looks great. The book siginings at the 1850′s House Store went great. They still have books in the store and I will be back in the Quarter soon. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

What’s the Southeastern Louisiana culture like?

Around Hammond area. Sorry I had to post here, I got smarta** remarks in the general post.

I went there. It was pretty fun. Lots of nice and rude people. The professors are good. It was actually pretty easy for a lot of my classes. The dorms are pretty new and some of the buildings are pretty new and nice. Of course, since this is the country, most of these students smoke weed a lot for fun, which I did not enjoy so I left. I prefer the big cities and clubbing. You often see crazy driving and people very high. The crime rate on campus was very high. It is just a very small rural area.

Good Morning NOLA!  Hello Saturday. I am really glead you are here. Spring has always been my favorite time to be in the Quarter. The high will be only in the seventies today.  It is great weather to get out and do something. But tonights low will drop into the fifties for tonight so you might want to have a jacket with you later. The  rain and strong storms from yesterday’s forecast has moved through.  It never hurts to keep the umbrella handy even though the sun is back and will stay with us until probably mid-week.  There is still lots going on in the city as usual.  Jazz Fest is just around the corner and the line-up looks awesome as usual.  I will  be at the 1850′s House Store sigining books in a couple of weeks. I will let you know exact dates as I get them. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!
