Why doesn’t Virginia have large off-campus sports facilities or even a pro team for that matter?

There are no real (NFL-standard) football stadiums, no MLB-standard basball stadiums and no NBA/NHL-standard arenas in Virginia. What has caused VA to fall behind poorer/smaller states like North Carolina, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Louisiana in having professional sports facilities and having a professional sports franchise?

I don’t know and you have a really good question.

Where can I go camping in Louisiana?

I just want to go camping. WIth tents, and a fire pit to cook, and sleep on the ground. I don’t want RV spots, or wi-fi internet, but that’s all I seem to be able to find. I just want to go camping in the wilderness! Please any help, even just a web site to search on!

Ah, the great outdoors! Louisiana does have lots of ‘wilderness’ areas, but unfortunately most wilderness that’s not developed is either private or state property. According to your profile, I see you live in or near New Orleans. There are a few good places near you, that might suit you.

Fairview Riverside State Park in Madisonville, LA. Just drive north across the Causeway and follow the signs. Fairview has RV spots, but they *also* have primitive campsites, too. The primitives are a bit away from the RV sites. Fairview also has nice bath house facilities. It is located on bank of the Tchefuncte River, with great river access. There are also miles of hiking trails here, including a boardwalk path near the river.

You may also want to check out Fountainbleu State Park, which is a few miles east of Fairview SP. Fountainbleu is officially in Mandeville. It’s a bigger park than Fairview, and it’s situated on Lake Pontchartrain. I believe they also offer primitive campsites. And they have miles of hiking trails as well. Fountainbleu used to have a swimming pool, but i’m not sure if it’s still there, or maintained.

Both places may suit your purposes.

Will I like living in Louisiana?

I’m a junior in high school and this is the time of the year we start talking about college decisions. I’ve already made up my mind that I want to leave this area and go south. I live in Northern Kentucky and have my whole life, and I’m soooo ready to leave lol. I know it’s a big decision, but I know it’s what I want to do. I’ve been researching schools online and requesting information and as of right now my first choice school is University of Louisiana in Lafayette. The only thing that scares me is how different in will be culturally. I want to go south but it will be a huge change. Yeah, I live in KY but NKY. Pretty much a run off of Cincinnati. I was just wondering if anyone can tell me some things about Louisiana culture and what to expect. What are the people like? Weather? All of that lol. Thanks [: (I’m not sure if this is the right category but it’s close lol)

I graduated from ULL, and I can tell you it’s a great value if you don’t want to spend too much. It has excellent, nationally recognized programs in nursing and computer science, for example. The culture will be quite different from N. KY, but college should be an adventure, right? Lafayette is a very diverse city, and the people are very hospitable, which makes it easier to adjust. The food is great, the weather is extremely humid (we’re already getting into the 80’s!), as already mentioned. Really, there’s nothing to be afraid of, it’s just DIFFERENT 🙂

Anyone know of a relaxing (and romantic) travel destination close to northwest Louisiana?

We live in northwest Louisiana (near Natchitoches, LA) and would like to spend our anniversary (early July) in a romantic setting. We are only looking at destinations within a 4-5 hour drive because this is not our actual summer vacation; we are taking a cruise later in the summer. Destinations in any of our border states would be great. We would really enjoy going to a spa as part of our trip. Any ideas?

You could go to the Beau Rivage Casino Resort in Biloxi, MS; thay have a nice spa.

How do I download ONE song.It is "You are my Sunshine".It is for a school play.I need music only (NO lyrics)

I’ve tried everything I know of to find this music. I don’t want to join any music site for one song. This is an old song, it is actually the State song of Louisiana. It has been recorded by many artists. More recently it has been referred to as a lullaby. I’ve seached everywhere I can think of. I’ve spent hours looking thru Instrumentsl CD’s at stores.

Go to – they have a LOT of versions to choose from. Just search for the title you’re looking for.
