"Sportsman’s Paradise" has appeared on LA license plates for many years and is one of LA’s "nicknames". The state bird is the Pelican, and "Pelican State" is another nickname.

a retreat to sportscars seems to be the way they will go, its something they know and have done well at before, they could be trumpeting Le Mans victory in a couple of years which would wash the bad taste from the mouth that their F1 project will leave behind. Maybe Kaizen works with Le Mans prototypes? after all its only one race per year, that may give them enough time to hold all their meetings and make a decision or two.

Well, i think the term “sports atheist” is not exactly what you have described. sports atheism lends to the idea that there is nothing worth believing in sports. it is not about being unable to choose what team to root for; it's about viewing sports as a constructed system designed for entertainment/money/ratings/profit.
for example, a sports atheist would not believe in the idea of “heroes” in pro sports because they are simply paid individuals pitted against each other.
your definition of sports pluralist is fine(mostly because it's your own def), but the sports atheism that simmons describes is a completely different idea.
What is the only nickname that one can not create a plausible question that it would be the answer to?
