Agent Pendergast -Can you imagine the actor to play him?
Dr. Aloysius X. L. Pendergast is a fictional character appearing in novels by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child.
In the novels, Pendergast is a special agent with the United States Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). He is a favorite among fans for his unique personality, appreciation of culture and his almost supernatural competence. He works out of the New Orleans, Louisiana branch of the FBI, but frequently travels out of state to investigate cases which interest him, namely those appearing to be the work of serial killers.
Holy cow, I love Pendergast. I’ve been reading those books for years. If I had to choose an actor to play him, Crispin Glover. If he dyed his hair. He’s tall and pale and intense, and a little creepy, like Pendergast. But I have a feeling no one would be able to live up to the readers’ expectations.

Gary Sinise (he’d have to dye his hair, though)
Paul Bettany (played the albino bad guy in The Da Vinci Code)
EDIT – adding more thoughts about Sinise: Even though Gary Sinise would need some hair & makeup work to get the right look for Pendergast, I think he could pull it off. He’s got the acting chops for it. Another point in his favor is that can do a pretty good "aristcratic Southern" accent. He did that in The Green Mile, and even though he only had a brief part in the movie he did really well in it.
EDIT – more about Bettany: I’ve never seen him in a big hero role, but he can definitely pull off the Pendergast look. I also think he can handle the "dark/troubled hero" role. Even when he plays good guys, he still has an "on the edge" demeanor.
EDIT – for Vivienne: Pendergast wasn’t in the Relic movie. In an interview after the movie came out, P&C said he was cut for pacing, to simplify the movie, etc. My thought was the moviemakers figured the picture would flow better with just one hero, that one being D’Agosta (sp?), played by Tom Sizemore. Soooo … Pendergast was a casualty of Hollywood revisionism, and that’s why we haven’t seen him on film yet.

Did you read the entire series? I did and I also read books by each of the authors’ written as individuals. If you like these types of books, I think in my opinion you would truly love Matthew Reilly. Try him his books are fast-paced and enjoyable reads. I don’t go to the movies enough to figure who would play a good Pendergast. Who did you choose?

They did make a film of Relic, and I can’t recall the actor who played Pendergast. The film wasn’t as scary as the book, nor as sophistocated in terms of plot or theme but it was enjoyable in a horrorgenre sort of way.
I think a series should be made featuring him, the way the Kathy Reichs books have been made into "Bones". It’d have to be better than CSI and its spin off series.

Dunleavy at Duke….Witman from IU …..Greg Grahm from IU because he does a little of everything and he is really long. Could play from the 2-4man and break the press as a one sometimes. Another big time ‘get’ and the kid already thinks Purdue sucks
