New York Yankees -2011 Season Outlook

Score: 224

As a huge Yankees fan for my entire life, I follow this team very closing and I’m not afraid to say I did not like a move (such as the signing of Alex Rodriguez after he opted out). This is MY outlook on the team this year.

Catcher: This is a very tricky position. After having Jorge Posada here for a long time, we now have Russell Martin and Jesus Montero (or maybe Molina from what I’ve heard). Martin can be a good catcher when healthy an is an obvious upgrade defensively. Montero I feel would be better as a DH or stay in the minors. Fransico Cervilli, who will be back in May will add stability to the back-up catcher role, as he has done a nice job in the past.

First Base: Mark Teixera will have a bounce back year average wise, which should slightly increase his RBI and Runs total too. He is also very durable so the Yankees are fine here.

Second Base: Robinson Cano. Nothing else to say. He is great defensively and he has become an huge offensive player. He could be a serious runner for the MVP this year.

Shortstop: Derek Jeter. The face of the franchise should have a bounce back year as he gets 3000+ hits. His defense will decline but he is still an important piece for this team.

Third Base: A-Rod. he will have another typical year with all the hoopla, but I expect a slight increase in HRs and RBIs according to his trends.

Outfield: This is a good group of OFs. They have Nick Swisher who has a good arm and a nice power bat. he will lose in average but he should still hit a respectable number. Brett Gardner is the Yankees speed guy and since he may hit leadoff more often, he has a chance to get over 60 steals. If he stays healthy, he may also hit around .300. Defensively, he fine. Now the question mark I have is Curtis Granderson. I do not think he is a good fit but that just me.

Reserves: This is a good bench, better in years past. The Yankees also have enough guys in the minor to bring up if they are not fine with the guys they have right now.

Starting Pitching: I beleive they made a mistake keeping the soft tossing Freddy Garcia in the rotation since teams like the Red Sox and Rangers will whack him around. I thought Bartolo Colon even with injuries and inning limit should have been the guy. Ivan Nova should surprise a lot of guys and so should A.J. Brunett. He had a good first half last year, before blowing up completely. C.C. sabathia is still the ace and Phil Hughes may struggle if he can’t find some velocity. The Yankees have a lot of young guys in the minors that can pitch and I expect one or two of them to come up this season to get their licks in the majors.

Bullpen: The 8th/9th inning guys are not a problem. I did not like the spending on of Rafael Soriano but he is good insurance. Mariano Rivera is still the BEST CLOSER EVER, so he will maintain his part. Robertson and Chamberlain will be good 6th/7th inning guys and can eat up a couple innings if guys are taxed. I don’t like Loogan or Marte as a lefty specialist but it is a good thing Robertson has great numbers vs lefties.

Prediction: They will finish 1st in the AL EAST. When it comes playoff time, they will go as far as their top 3 SPs take them. Now that I can’t predict just yet.

Oak Alley Plantation in Louisiana video 6.. the festival

Oak Alley Plantation October 2010 quite interesting I think the house is actually haunted..there were deaths in there. I found it very odd they would not let us in the kitchen and we could NOT enter on the 3rd floor at all. They tried saying it was a fire hazard! whatever! there happened to be a festival there that day so it ended up being really fun. I did manage to get some video of inside the plantation although for some reason they said camaras were not allowed. Watch the other video’s and you will be able to see the inside!!!

Subrosan Casts Matthew Talbot As Miguel

New Orleans

There is always something happening in New Orleans. But now there is an anticipation in the streets and excitment in the air about something new and different for NOLA thrill seekers. The buzz is contagious and people are talking up a storm about the exciting new web series Subrosan set here in New Orleans.  You may have seen previous posts about the show everyone is waiting to see.  Just in recent weeks they have announced casting decisions on some crucial roles. Auditions have been set in New Orleans for the remaining five speaking roles and filming is about to begin on the first episode.  One such announcement is that of Matthew Talbot in the role of Miguel.  Check out the following press release on Matthew and visit www.Subrosan.com for the skinny on the talented cast of characters and the roles they play in this thrilling ride through the twists and turns of the New Orleans French Quarter and the Subrosan culture.

by Sharon Denise Talbot

What the producers said:  The producers of Subrosan are thrilled to announce that Matthew Talbot has been cast in the role of Miguel for the debut season.

The complex role of Miguel requires physical gifts as well as strong acting skills. We feel Matt will deliver the goods as both an actor and as an impossibly cruel enforcer. We had some interesting meetings about the Miguel character – how do you cast a baby-faced murderer? When Matt stepped up for the role – taking on the language challenges and the complexities of his characters hopeless duality – we knew we had a winner.

You can learn more about Matthew Talbot and his role as Miguel on his feature page.

“Miguel es un hombre peligroso”
“‘Cause he’s a dangerous man. He’s got blood in his plans
Better watch out where you stand, ‘Cause he’s a dangerous man
He’ll make you believe that he’s your friend, But don’t forget it’s just pretend
And he’s a dangerous man….. “   Trust No One… Believe Nothing

Matthew Talbot is a man of many hats and looking to Matthew Talbot is Migueladd a few more to his collection. This former football and golf athlete as well as a soccer standout is a recent graduate of Iowa High School and will be attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall in Pre-Pharmacy.

Matt already holds his certification as a Pharmacy Tech and is in the Honors program at ULL. He will be pursuing a business degree before finishing up his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Following his parents to New Orleans after graduation Matt has discovered the film industry in what is now known as Hollywood South.

Always looking for the next challenge, his new goal is to make the leap from background and stand-in to serious acting. Matt is very social and outgoing and thrives on the energy of being on set. While school comes first and he is not looking to be famous, when he looks back on his life he wants to be able to say “I did what I set out to do.”

Join us for Subrosan. You’ll be changed forever.

Keep your eyes open New Orleans.  Trust No One…. Believe Nothing…..

Good Morning NOLA!  It is Thursday and the weekend is almost upon us. Wasn’t it a beautiful day yesterday.  That breeze blowing through the Quarter was perfect. Spring has always been my favorite time to be in the Quarter. It will be sunny this morning but will warm up as the day goes on.The high will be eighty-one degrees today.  But tonights low will only drop into the seventies. It will be a little breezy which is always welcome when the humidity is seventy percent.  The forecast is showing just a few scattered storms this week probably tomorrow on Friday.  It never hurts to keep the umbrella handy. There is still lots going on in the city as usual.   I will  be at the 1850′s House Store sigining books in a couple of weeks. I will let you know exact dates as I get them. So make plans to come out a get your personalized copies of “I Love You Bigger Than The Sky!” and “IF I Were A French Quarter Rat”.  Whatever you decide to do today, enjoy! See y’all in NOLA!

Don’ t forget to check back tomorrow for your New Orleans weather 10 day forecast.

Almost Time For Subrosan

 New Orleans

Hey Y’all! Well, the excitement and anticipation that has been building for months is about to blow, not just in New Orleans but circling the globe. In just two more days the eagerly awaited web series Subrosan’s first episode will be available on you tube. You have been taunted with trailers and teasers, even interviews with the Director, Producers and some of the cast but finally you get a big scrumptious bite of the sinfully delicious Subrosan. Subrosan will have you dancing on that fine line between myth and history. Have you questioning what is real and what is, well… not. Subrosan is a lot like my beloved New Orleans, some of you will deep down get it, some of you will barely scratch the surface, and others will completely miss the subtle undertones that make Subrosan a must see phenomena. The amazing part is no matter which category you fall in you can’t help but be sucked into this web of secrets and lies tangled with truth that are just a little too close to real life to be comfortable. Tag along with Ray Roche, a down and almost out private eye, as he gets caught up in this web. From the “end of the world” down in the Parish, through the historic New Orleans French Quarter streets, across Southwest Louisiana, and around the globe, Subrosan has a very long reach. Who do you trust? The college jock? The Priest? The Politician? Subrosan says: Trust No One… Believe Nothing. You decide. Written and directed by Dwayne Coots this wild ride through shadowy societies intertwined with everyday life showcases loads of Louisiana talent from the dedicated cast of actors to all the behind the scenes players. This is a great example of how people in the Bayou State roll up their collective sleeves and get things done. Please join us for the premiere episode of Subrosan this Thursday April 19th at 8:00 central time at http://subrosan.com/ . Sharon Denise Talbot

New Orleans and the world – it’s almost time for …SUBROSAN.

You can also help Subrosan by supporting us at our IndieGoGo page.  Thanks!

Good Morning NOLA! It’s a little chilly out there this morning. You will want to bring your jacket with you, but the sun will make an appearance today which is a good thing.  I love sunshine! One of my favorite quotes is “Living is not enough,” said the butterfly. One must have sunshine, freedom and a little flower……  Hans Christian Anderson.   Highs in the upper fifties, but it will cool off again tonight. There is only a minimal ten percent rain chance for today so I think you can forego the umbrella and/or rain coat.   Thursday is not shaping up to be near as nice so enjoy the sunshine on hump day today.  Two more days until its the weekend.  Whoo Hoo!  I love short work weeks.  See you in NOLA!
