Hey Y’all! Well, the excitement and anticipation that has been building for months is about to blow, not just in New Orleans but circling the globe. In just two more days the eagerly awaited web series Subrosan’s first episode will be available on you tube. You have been taunted with trailers and teasers, even interviews with the Director, Producers and some of the cast but finally you get a big scrumptious bite of the sinfully delicious Subrosan. Subrosan will have you dancing on that fine line between myth and history. Have you questioning what is real and what is, well… not. Subrosan is a lot like my beloved New Orleans, some of you will deep down get it, some of you will barely scratch the surface, and others will completely miss the subtle undertones that make Subrosan a must see phenomena. The amazing part is no matter which category you fall in you can’t help but be sucked into this web of secrets and lies tangled with truth that are just a little too close to real life to be comfortable. Tag along with Ray Roche, a down and almost out private eye, as he gets caught up in this web. From the “end of the world” down in the Parish, through the historic New Orleans French Quarter streets, across Southwest Louisiana, and around the globe, Subrosan has a very long reach. Who do you trust? The college jock? The Priest? The Politician? Subrosan says: Trust No One… Believe Nothing. You decide. Written and directed by Dwayne Coots this wild ride through shadowy societies intertwined with everyday life showcases loads of Louisiana talent from the dedicated cast of actors to all the behind the scenes players. This is a great example of how people in the Bayou State roll up their collective sleeves and get things done. During the Lenten season abstinence from meat on Fridays is obligatory for all us “good Catholics” in Louisiana and elsewhere. Salt and freshwater species of fish, amphibians, reptiles and shellfish are permitted. So darn the luck, as Paw-Paw Benoit would say. What do we in the Bayou State during Lent? We eat even more seafood! If you are down in New Orleans during Lent (actually anytime of the year) and you are looking for seafood you have just hit the jackpot.

Some of the best seafood I have ever eaten was served up right here in the Crescent City. The problem is choosing at which wonderful eatery to pull up a chair or a stool. Fans consistently rank Acme’s oysters, seafood and atmosphere among the best in New Orleans and the country and they get my vote, too. Acme Oyster House has been around since1910. Louie Armstrong had not even started his first band and the Acme Café was opened on Royal Street in the French Quarter. Acme has long been a staple in the Big Easy restaurant pantry chock a block full of amazing cuisine. Because a horrible fire in 1924 caused the collapse of the three-story Acme Saloon building, the Café was re-opened as Acme Oyster House around the corner at 724 Iberville in the world famous French Quarter, just off of Bourbon Street.

In addition to the French Quarter location, Acme Oyster Houses are open in Covington, Metairie, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and in Sandestin on the Florida panhandle. Acme shucked well over 3.6 million fresh oysters in 2008. That’s almost 10,000 oysters a day and doesn’t even include the fried ones. Its neon sign is a beacon guiding the hungry by the droves. Locals and tourists a-like line up for some of the best New Orleans style seafood around and is a testament to this place in a city renowned for its food. Don’t let the line deter you it moves really fast! I suggest you order an Abita from the bar and hang tight. Your seat at a checkered tablecloth covered table is coming right up.

World famous for their ice cold oysters on the half shell, Acme has out done themselves with their version of char-grilled oysters. Grilled in the shell with garlic, butter and a sprinkling of parmesan cheese this is a treat for even the most oyster opposed of us. Trust me; I have brought many an anti-oyster visitor over from the dark side by offering this sizzling delicacy on a piece of New Orleans French bread. Just a side note, when the oyster is gone, dip your bread in the empty shell to get every drop of the buttery ambrosia left in the bottom! Cést Bon, Cher!

If the oysters won’t tempt you then check out Acme’s impressive menu. The fried catfish platter and the corn and crab soup may be just the thing for a Lenten supper. Of course, there is always hot seafood gumbo to chase away the chill of a cool day. No matter what you order you can’t go wrong. Stand in line at Acme. I promise, they aren’t going anywhere and it is well worth the wait!

There is always something happening in New Orleans. But now there is an anticipation in the streets and excitment in the air about something new and different for NOLA thrill seekers. The buzz is contagious and people are talking up a storm about the exciting new web series Subrosan set here in New Orleans.  You may have seen previous posts about the show everyone is waiting to see.  Just in recent weeks they have announced casting decisions on some crucial roles. Auditions have been set in New Orleans for the remaining five speaking roles and filming is about to begin on the first episode.  One such announcement is that of Matthew Talbot in the role of Miguel.  Check out the following press release on Matthew and visit www.Subrosan.com for the skinny on the talented cast of characters and the roles they play in this thrilling ride through the twists and turns of the New Orleans French Quarter and the Subrosan culture.

What the producers said:  The producers of Subrosan are thrilled to announce that Matthew Talbot has been cast in the role of Miguel for the debut season.

The complex role of Miguel requires physical gifts as well as strong acting skills. We feel Matt will deliver the goods as both an actor and as an impossibly cruel enforcer. We had some interesting meetings about the Miguel character – how do you cast a baby-faced murderer? When Matt stepped up for the role – taking on the language challenges and the complexities of his characters hopeless duality – we knew we had a winner.

Matthew Talbot is a man of many hats and looking to add a few more to his collection. This former football and golf athlete as well as a soccer standout is a recent graduate of Iowa High School and will be attending the University of Louisiana at Lafayette in the fall in Pre-Pharmacy.

Matt already holds his certification as a Pharmacy Tech and is in the Honors program at ULL. He will be pursuing a business degree before finishing up his Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Following his parents to New Orleans after graduation Matt has discovered the film industry in what is now known as Hollywood South.

Always looking for the next challenge, his new goal is to make the leap from background and stand-in to serious acting. Matt is very social and outgoing and thrives on the energy of being on set. While school comes first and he is not looking to be famous, when he looks back on his life he wants to be able to say “I did what I set out to do.”
