Good Morning NOLA!  It’s Sunday and we might actually have some rain today.  Through 10pm: Partly cloudy with temperatures slowly falling to near 83F. Winds SSE at 5 to 10 mph.  Scattered showers and thunderstorms, especially during the evening. Low 77F. Winds SSW at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 40%.  Very exciting stuff happening on this end.There is always something going on in the city as usual.  The Oyster Festival is this weekend and it is the last Feret Market until the fall.  Check out the new exhibit at the THNOC.  The Creole Tomato Festival is next weekend.  This city never sleeps so don’t miss a thing . I hope your  plans include music.  It is good for the soul. The weather should cooperate so get out and enjoy.  The week ahead looks pretty good. Don’t worry about those scattered showers over the week ahead but all in all looks great. What is the “shelf life” for raw oysters?

Question by Rhoda: What is the “shelf life” for raw oysters?
I live in Oklahoma. A buddy of mine went out on a shrimp boat in Louisiana on Saturday 6-20-09 and got a lot of raw oysters … iced them down on the boat and them kept them iced while he drove back to Oklahoma. I picked them up from him on Sunday 6-21-09 and have them refrigerated. My question is — I intend on eating them raw. How long will they stay “good” in my refrigerator? I don’t want to get shellfish poisoning!! I have eaten raw oysters in restaurants all my life and love them — but I don’t know their “shelf-life” insofar as my refrigerator is concerned. Anybody know???

I would eat them ASAP, you don’t want to risk getting sick from bad shellfish!!

Good Morning NOLA!  Happy Hump day, today is Wednesday for those of you who have lost track.  Wasn’t it a beautiful day yesterday.  That breeze blowing through the Quarter was perfect. Spring has always been my favorite time to be in the Quarter. It will be sunny this morning but will warm up as the day goes on.The high will be eighty-two degrees today.  But look for cooler temps tonight with a low in the sixties. It will be a little breezy which is always welcome when the humidity is seventy percent.  The forecast is showing just a few scattered storms this week probably on Friday.  It never hurts to keep the umbrella handy.  Good Morning NOLA! How are you today?  I am doing pretty well.  I am really enjoying our weather. Since the cool front came through on Monday our overnight lows have been nice and in the fifties again.  This gives us a little nip in the air to start the day and warming up into the seventies ofr our daily high.  It is partly cloudy today so it shouldn’t be a really warm seventy four degrees.  There are scattered thunderstorms in the forecast for tomorrow so we have to resort to carrying an umbrella for Thursday as well as Friday and Saturday of this week. Let’s hope it just passes us by. Saturday brings us a seventy percent chance of rain but clearing for Sunday. This trend should take us through Mardi Gras which overall has been pretty awesome weatherwise. What a great time to be in the Big Easy.   Have a great day and enjoy whatever you decide to do today.  See you in NOLA!

 Good Morning NOLA!  I really hope you are ready for some more rain.  It is coming whether you are or not.  We have a one hundred percent chance of rain for today.  Don’t go anywhere without that umbrella, rain poncho or rain boots.  The today is right at seventy degrees but don’t let that fool you.  By tonight our temps will drop to freezing.  Thirty two degrees is the forecasted low for tonight.  Don’t forget to protect your plants and pets.  Colder for the rest of the week with a string of night time temps in thirties.  Winter is still here.   We are looking at a very windy day tomorrow but only a slight chance of rain. More showers though later in the week.  The way this week is shaping up weather wise it looks like I will be doing alot of writing inside.  I am not a big fan of the cold and wet.  Have a good day.  I’ll see you in NOLA!
